“These 15 wineries have only hit the scene in recent years, but they represent some of the most exciting trends in California wine. …Oxlee Graham has swiftly garnered acclaim for its trio of terrific single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, as well as an alluring Picpoul-Chenin Blanc white, and a fairly take-no-prisoners Petit Verdot.”

“Jennie embraces a minimal intervention approach to let the wines express their authentic personalities…The goal is to preserve the unique qualities imparted by the vineyards and terroir while guiding the winemaking process with careful attention to details like whole cluster inclusion, fermentation temperatures, and barrel selections.”

“Oxlee Graham’s Jennie Murphy made her first commercial wines from the 2022 vintage. She works mainly with Pinot Noir, as well as with Chenin Blanc, Picpoul, and Petit Verdot, from sites ranging from northern Mendocino to the Santa Cruz Mountains. The wines were very good across the board.”

“Food & Wine suggests seeking out the winery’s 2023 Dayle’s Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast ($58), named for Murphy’s mother. The berry-forward Pinot has hints of orange zest and savory spices to complement the juicy red fruits, lending to a balanced and food-friendly wine.”

“We met owner/winemaker Jennie Murphy at the Half Moon Bay Wine and Jazz festival, an event everyone who loves vino and music should consider. That meeting led us to visit her for a full tasting at her place in Santa Rosa, where she captivated us with stories about her background and about her family/friends, for whom each wine is named. Jennie has the touch.”

“Her career in wine can be attributed to a single trait. Jennie Murphy trusts her gut…While elegant, fresh Pinot Noir is the lynchpin for the label, Jennie has no fear of the esoteric. Want a Petit Verdot from the Fountaingrove District? Or a Picpoul and Chenin Blanc blend? Step right up. You can trust this gal's judgment.”

“Work ethic has always been incredibly important to me. It’s something that runs deep in my family, and it’s a big part of why I founded my wine brand, Oxlee Graham, and named it after my grandmothers.”

“Jennie is perhaps the most detail oriented winemaker we have ever met, her attention to the wine, barrels, tanks and even corks set her apart from the crowd. The wines are expressive and speak to the vineyard sites, from Mendocino to Santa Cruz. We can’t recommend these wines highly enough, they are very small production so move fast.”

“Jennie Murphy is, like her grandmothers who she named her winery after, a tough, resilient, and determined woman…We learned a ton about the winemaking world in our conversation with her - things that the average wine drinker never thinks about - for instance the importance of “moving the wine” in the cellar, something she learned from cellar master Roberto Ruiz. She is someone who truly embodies the art and science of winemaking.”

“Winemaking for Jennie was love at first site, and after Korbel, she found an Enologist role at Paul Hobbs Wines. Here she would stay for the next twelve years, eventually growing in to the role of Director of Winemaking, and learning how to craft wines full of character and nuance.Jennie is a firm believer that each wine should be unique and allowed to tell its own story.”

2023 Oxlee Graham ‘Dayle’s’ Pinot Noir- With fruit sourced from Gap's View Vineyard in Sonoma's Petaluma Gap and the Tanuda Ridge Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, Fermented in open top tanks with 18% whole clusters and aged 10 months in a mix of barrels from coopers Cadus, Leroi, Louis Latour, Taransaud, and Vicard Generation 7 (with roughly one-third of the barrels brand new). It's a wonderfully fragrant Sonoma Pinot, offering up red berry fruits, tangerine and grapefruit character, a touch of clove, and perhaps some graham cracker spice. The fruit is silky, and an undercurrent of zesty acidity is balanced by crisp tannins. Drink 2025-2033 - Jonathan Cristaldi

2022 Oxlee Graham ‘Dayle’s’ Pinot Noir- The 2022 ‘Dayle’s’ shows off great texture and verve once on the mouth. Layers of loganberry and pomegranate seed flavors combine with salty soils and plenty of richness on the palate. Really good, this generous bottling will cellar well for another decade. Drink 2024-2034 - Owen Bargreen
